Day 01 Arrive Delhi- Upon arrival and after clearing immigration and customs you will be met and transferred to your hotel.


Day 02 Delhi - Touring Delhi and welcome dinner

In the morning we will visit the National museum, one of the largest museums in India. Lunch at Lodi Restaurant. Visit of the Old Fort, also known as ‘The Purana Quila’. Constructed by the Mughal emperor – Humayun, the Purana Quila it shows the glory of the Mughal art. Today evening concludes with a private lecture and high tea.


Day 03 - Delhi - Kullu, Himachal Pradesh. Fly to Kullu Valley.

Morning fly to Kullu. Upon arrival transfer to NEERALAYA BOUTIQE RESORT. Later we will visit the town of Naggar. The Russian explorer Nicholas Roerich loved the town and settled here in the early 20th century. Lunch at the Fort Restaurant. We will visit the hamlet of Dashal, with traditional wooden homes in typical Himalayan architecture and a lone Shiva temple which dates to the 11th century. We will have high tea at a local friend’s Himalayan villa where Mark Talley will deliver a lecture on Himalayan wooden architecture. Drive back to Neeralaya. An evening lecture and a documentary screening on the Kullu Dusshera.



Day 04 Kullu Valley - Dusshera Festival (End September or early October every year)

Kullu is also known as the Apple Valley of India. Today is Dusshera, a major Indian festival. It is symbolic of the triumph of good over evil. Kullu Dussehra is renowned for its grand celebration. We will visit the Dagpo Shedrup Ling or Kias Monastery built to commemorate the 15th century Dagpo Monastery that was destroyed in Tibet during the Chinese invasion in 1959.


Day 05 - Kullu -Manali - Kullu- Full day excursion to Manali

(6560 feet-1 hour each way). Visit the Hadimba Temple, Gadhan Thekchhokling Gompa, Vashist Temple and museum of traditional Himachal culture. We’ll have a stop for shopping at the store of the niece of the Dalai Lama. Evening enjoy dinner with live music at the beautiful Johnsons café.


Day 06 Kullu - Keylong- (9856 feet) begin our adventure Manali to Leh drive

Begin our adventurous drive towards Ladakh today, first driving to Keylong (9856 feet/6-7 hours) passing across the Solang valley (8192 feet) and Rohtang pass (12733 feet) DEKYID HOTEL (Standard room). Situated at an altitude of 10688 feet Keylong is an oasis of lush green fields and willow trees, water streams surrounded with beautiful brown hills and snow dressed peaks. Rest of the day at leisure.


Day 07 Keylong to Leh,Ladakh

Todays 8 to 9 hours drive takes us to higher altitudes driving through two high passes. The highway crosses many small streams of ice-cold water from snow-capped mountains and glacial melts. The greenery on the southern side of the mountain pass disappears and the mountain slopes on the leeward side become brown and arid. However, the mountain peaks are covered in snow and shine brightly in sun. (11200 feet), passing en route the Taglang la Pass (17152 feet). The road climbs to Patseo where you can get a view back of Darcha. A little further is Zingzingbar. The road then goes over the Baralacha La(54 km; 15,600 feet), 107 km from Keylong, at the crossroads of Lahaul, Zanskar, Spiti and Ladakh regions before dropping to Sarchu (on the state border). The road runs beyond Brandy Nala by the Tsarap River before negotiating 22 spectacular hairpin bends, known as the 'Gata Loops', to climb up to the Nakli La (15840 feet) and Lachalung La (16208 feet). It then descends past tall earth and rock pillars to Pang, a summer settlement in a narrow valley where we will have lunch. The 40-km-wide Moray plains (14080 feet) provide a change from the slower mountain road. The road then climbs to Taglang La (17184 feet), the highest motorable pass along this route and the second highest in the world; Begin descend slowly towards the Indus valley, passing small villages, before entering a narrow gorge with purple colored cliffs. The road turns left to continue along the Indus basin passing Upshi with a sheep farm and a checkpost, and then Thikse, before reaching Leh.


Day 08 Leh- Ladakh

Morning we will visit Thikshey Monastery and Shey Palace. Afternoon we will visit Stok Palace and Spituk Monastery.


Day 09 Leh- Excursion to Pangong Tso (13920 feet-5 hours), literally meaning “enchanted lake”.

En route visit the largest monastery Hemis and Thikse.


Day 10 Leh - Lamayuru - Alchi.

Drive today along the Indus River to one of the most spectacular monasteries in Ladakh- Lamayuru. On return overnight stop near the Alchi Monastery.


Day 11 Alchi - Leh- Morning extended tour of Alchi Monastery. Continue driving back to Leh (2-3 hours) visiting en route Basgo monastery with alluring Tibetan architecture.


Day 12 Fly Leh to Delhi and connect flights to home OR begin two night 3 day extension to NUBRA VALLEY

EXTENSION TO NUBRA VALLEY
DAY 12 - LEH - NUBRA VALLY drive today to Nubra valley driving on the highest motorable road in the world.


Day 13 - Nubra Valley- Visit monasteries and chance to ride the backtrian Camels.


Day 14 - Nubra - Leh - drive back across the Khardungla Pass once again.



Day 15 Fly Leh to Delhi and connect flights home.
