ITINERARY

DAY 1: ARRIVE DELHI- Arrive Delhi, the national capital of India. Its history goes back to 3000 years. Eight successive cities were built by various rulers in and around present day Delhi- THE CLARIDGES


DAY 2: DELHI- New Delhi tour this morning, visiting the Humayun’s Tomb, Qutab Minar, a 234-ft sandstone tower. Later tour Old Delhi , drive past the Red Fort, enjoy a Rickshaw ride through Chandni Chowk (old shopping street) on to Jama Masjid, one of the largest mosques in India. On return, visit Raj Ghat, a memorial to the great Mahatma Gandhi.


DAY 3: DELHI – Morning a short walk in the Lodi Gardens- the Central Park of New Delhi, and visit the Gandhi Museum. Afternoon tour of Akshardham Temple, the largest Hindu temple complex in the world. During this visit, you will explore this stunning temple.


DAY 4: DELHI, AGRA – Morning we drive to Agra visiting en route stop at the Lotus Temple and Sikandra, the mausoleum of great Mughal Emperor Akbar. The earliest reference to Agra is in the epic The Mahabharat. Ptolemy, Alexander the Great's geographer also called it Agra. Day 5: AGRA-(B) This morning enjoy an extended visit to the Taj Mahal and Agra Fort. Sample the arts of this region and this afternoon a special visit to Bateshwar for an authentic India experience.


DAY 6: AGRA, SAMODE PALACE- JAIPUR - (B,L) Morning drive to Samode Palace for Lunch. A perfect jeweled palace hidden away in deepest country is one of the few unspoiled preserves of the former maharajahs with stately corridors, frescoed walls, ethereal audience halls, harmoniously reflect the skill of master craftsmen. DAY 7: JAIPUR - This morning riding on elegantly caparisoned elephants, we make our way to the Amber fort to visit its palaces. Later enjoy a Heritage walk through the ‘bazaars’ of Jaipur and see the cultural and historic preservation. Afternoon tour, visiting the Royal Observatory, the Palace Museum and the elaborate Palace of Winds, the Hawa Mahal.


DAY 8: JAIPUR- BIKANER – Morning we drive to Bikaner visiting en route the Shekawati towns of Mukundgarh, Nawalgarh or Dundlod sampling the painted homes. The city of Bikaner was founded in 1488 A.D. Bikaner is more popularly called the Camel Country. LAXMI VILAS PALACE (Heritage)


DAY 9: BIKANER – Today we will visit Junagarh Fort, Prachina museum, Lalgarh Palace and the Jain temples and a visit to a Camel breeding Farm.


DAY 10: BIKANER, NAGAUR – Morning we drive to Nagaur. The town of Nagaur boasts of palatial houses and temples. Afternoon visit Nagaur Fort, Tarkeen Dargah, Jain temple and Cenotaph of Amar Singh Rathore. RANVAS BOUTIQUE (Heritage)


DAY 11: NAGAUR, JAISALMER – Morning we drive to Jaisalmer en route visit Kheechan to see the migratory flamingo birds. Close to the enormous sand dunes, which make a surrealistic landscape patterned by the wind, Jaisalmer’s skyline holds kiosks with parapets, balconies and terraces.The renowned ‘Havelis’- (ancestral homes) have intricate carvings on yellow-gold Jaisalmer stone. DAY 12: JAISALMER - Morning sightseeing tour of the 12- century Jaisalmer fort, the Jain temples within the fort walls, the Gadi Sagar, the water reservoir which was once the water supply of the city and has many small temples and shrines around it. We will also visit some of the Havelis or ‘mansions’. Afternoon excursion to the Sam dunes with a camel ride on the dunes. SURYAGARH (Modern Boutique)


DAY 13: JAISALMER, JODHPUR – Morning we drive to Jodhpur, The 15th century city of Jodhpur, stands at the edge of Thar Desert and is the largest city in Rajasthan after Jaipur. Evening visit the downtown Clock Tower market on a horse cart where you can see the vegetable, spice, textile and silver markets. RAAS BOUTIQUE (Heritage)


DAY 14: JODHPUR – (B) Morning tour of Jodhpur; we will visit the Meherangarh Fort, which was impregnable for the rocky base, which is scraped on every side. Within the walls are royal palaces, with priceless jewels and a striking collection of arms.Later visit the Umaid Bhawan Palace museum, which houses the priceless collection of the Maharaja of Jodhpur. Enjoy a walk through the blue city of Jodhpur.


DAY 15: JODHPUR-MIHIRGARH – (B) Morning we will drive to Mihirgarh, the fort of the Sun seems to materialize from the rugged, majestic desert itself. This elegant structure finds its inspiration in the rural village architecture of Western Rajasthan, as can be seen with the tall mud walls, the slightly rounded corners, the numerous alcoves, and of course, the aesthetically conceived fireplaces. This haven where you can experience sheer lavishness amidst the wilderness of Thar. Afternoon we will participate in one of the most interesting features of this tour, a village safari. DAY 16: MIHIRGARH, DEVIGARH – (B) Morning we will drive to Devigarh visiting en route the Jain temples at Ranakpur and Kumbhalgarh Fort. Rest of the day at leisure to enjoy your Palace hotel. Nestled in the Aravali hills of Rajasthan, the 18th century Devi Garh Fort Palace, in the village of Delwara commands one the three main passes into the valley of Udaipur. DEVIGARH (HERITAGE)


DAY 17: DEVIGARH – (B) Full day at leisure to enjoy your Palace hotel and to meet some local villagers in thier homes.


DAY 18: DEVIGARH, UDAIPUR – (B) Morning we drive to Udaipur visiting en route Eklingi Temples. In Udaipur the visitor finds his dream of India come true, for the city combines real beauty with picturesque associations of a great and glorious past. It stands in a valley, amid green hills on the banks of the wide, steel-blue Lake Pichola. FATEHGARH BOUTIQUE


DAY 19: UDAIPUR - (B) Morning sightseeing tour of Udaipur includes a visit to the vast and exquisite City Palace of the Maharana. Also visit Jagdish Temple, 16th century temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Afternoon at leisure. Evening we will witness music and dance show. Sunset boat cruise on Lake Pichola to visit the Jag Mandir Palace. This palace is built on an island, which covers 4 acres and is noted for its marble interior and imposing dome.


DAY 20: UDAIPUR- MUMBAI, USA- Today fly to Mumbai (Bombay), the commercial capital of India. Enjoy a tour of the city visiting the Prince of Wales Museum, We will see the Gateway of India, a 262 feet high gateway overlooking the sea. Visit Gandhi Museum, also see the not to be missed ‘dhobi ghats’ (public laundry). and visit the Crawford Market. TAJ MAHAL PALACE WING
