Travel to Thailand offers the tourist every style of holiday imaginable. Relax on the magnificent island beaches of the south, or marvel at the cultural wonders of central and northern Thailand. Discover the less traveled regions such as the Isaarn province, explore the archeological treasures of Ayuthaya, Pimai or Sukhothai or enjoy the endless shopping opportunities for more modern treasures in the great malls and markets of bustling Bangkok. Explore Thailand's capital city, Bangkok known to Thais as "Krung Thep" (the City of Angels), one of the world's most exciting cities. It holds the essence of the Thai spirit, and is very much the heart of the country. Its lively collection of nightlife venues, markets, shops, restaurants, magnificent "wats" (temples), museums, palaces and parks is truly exciting. Chiang Mai, Thailand's second largest city, also known as the "Rose of the North," is blessed with rich historical and cultural heritage. Chiang Mai not only boasts magnificent temples and nice weather, but also a strikingly beautiful landscape, excellent entertainment and shopping opportunities, and the charm of its people. Chiang Rai, the northernmost province of Thailand, lies in the heart of the notorious Golden Triangle, the area where the borders of Thailand, Myanmar, and Laos converge. It is well known for its stunning mountain scenery and is home to several different hill tribes.
