The great Himalayas lie in its south with the towering Mt. Everest standing above all world's peaks. You will visit Buddhist monasteries including the massive Potala Palace, vibrant Barkhor street, see vast open space, view imposing Himalayan peaks and meet roving nomads with their herds of yak and sheep. Enjoy the magnificent, panoramic view of the Northern flanks of the Himalayas (weather permitting) as you drive through the Himalayas down towards Nepal.

Day 1 ARRIVE LHASA, Tibet (D)
Arrive Lhasa (11680ft), the capital of Tibet.

Day 2 LHASA (BLD)
Visit Potala Palace and Norbulingka, former summer palace of the Dalai Lamas.

Day 3 LHASA (BLD)
Visit Drepung monastery, carpet factory, Sera monastery, Jokhang temple and Barkhor Street market.
Day 4 LHASA - GYANTSE (BLD)
Today we drive along the along the beautiful Yamdrok- Tso Lake, also known as the turquoise lake to Gyantse (12950ft). You will cross two passes approximately 16500 and 14000ft high.

Day 5 GYANTSE - XIGATSE (Shigatse) (BLD)
Tour of the Kumbum Pagoda and Palcho monastery, one of the best architectural work in Tibet. Later we will depart for Xigatse, 11800ft. Tour of the Tashilumpo Monastery, the seat of the great Panchen Lama and the largest Monastery in the region of Xigatse.
SHIGATSE HOTEL.
Day 6 XIGATSE - XEGAR (BLD)
Today we will drive to Xegar (13800ft).
QOMOLANGMA HOTEL.

Day 7 XEGAR (BLD)
Full day excursion to base camp Mt Everest north side crossing a 16,700ft pass.
Day 8 XEGAR - ZHANGMU (BLD)
Today we drive to Zhanghmu, the Tibet-Nepal border town. ZHANGMU HOTEL.
Day 9 ZHANGMU - KATHMANDU - HOMEBOUND (B)
Drive to Kathmandu airport to connect homebound flights. |
