For many years in a row the Pageant of the North has been our most popular tour. A great choice for first timers to India as it features a comprehensive north India itinerary which provides a rich, cultural experience rather than just a tour. With only four limited departures, this tour is designed around the most interesting festivals in India- the Pushkar Camel Fair, Republic Day Parade, Festival of Colors and the monsoon Teej festival.

Day 1
YOUR TOUR BEGINS
The vast and exotic subcontinent of India beckons as we depart West Coast or East Coast for Delhi, India.
Day 2
ARRIVE DELHI
Late night arrival in Delhi, capital of India. It's history goes back 2000 years.
Day 3
DELHI (BD)
Tour of New Delhi, visiting the impressive Qutab Minar, a 234-ft sandstone tower and Humayun's tomb. See the Government buildings and presidential palace along the broad and majestic Rajpath.
Day 4
DELHI - AURANGABAD (BD)
Tour of Old Delhi to see the Red Fort, a symbol of Mughal power. On return, visit Raj Ghat, a memorial to the great Mahatma Gandhi. Later fly to Aurangabad, home of one of the most impressive sights of India.
Day 5
AURANGABAD (BL)
Today we will visit Ajanta. Buddhist monks spent centuries carving 29 caves into a horseshoe- shaped cliff.
Day 6
AURANGABAD - UDAIPUR (BD)
Morning tour of Ellora cave temples and the Kailash temple, which is perhaps the largest monolith in the world. Later we fly to Udaipur. The city of Udaipur stands in a valley amid green hills on the banks of the wide, steel blue Lake Pichola.
Day 7
UDAIPUR (BL)
Tour of Udaipur, visiting the vast City Palace of the Maharana. See the Fateh Sagar Lake and visit the Jagdish Temple. Later, a scenic cruise on Lake Pichola and visit Jagmandir Palace.
Day 8
UDAIPUR - JODHPUR (BLD)
Drive to Jodhpur en route visit the beautiful Jain temple of Ranakpur. Built in white marble it has exquisite intricate carvings. Participate in a Village Safari by jeeps. Experience first-hand the true rural life of India not often seen by tourists. Jodhpur stands on a range of sandstone hills. Dominating the view is a massive fortress.
Day 9
JODHPUR (BD)
Tour of the Meherangarh Fort, Jodhpur city and other attractions of the area.
Day 10
JODHPUR - JAIPUR (BD)
Travel to Jaipur the rose-pink capital of Rajasthan. Jaipur is aptly called the Pink City of India.
Day 11
JAIPUR (BL)
Riding on elegantly caparisoned elephants, we make our way to visit the Amber Fort. See lavish courtyards, beautifully decorated halls and the Chamber of Mirrors. Later visit the Royal Observatory and Palace Museum. We will also see the ornate and elaborate Palace of Winds.
Day 12
JAIPUR - RANTHAMBORE NATIONAL PARK (BLD)
Today we drive to Ranthambore Tiger reserve. Afternoon nature drive by park vehicles.
Day 13
RANTHAMBORE NATIONAL PARK - AGRA (BD)
Morning nature drive by park vehicles. Later travel to Agra visiting en route Fatehpur Sikri, the once fabled Mughal capital that now lies quietly but wonderfully preserved.
Day 14
AGRA (BD)
Visit the Taj Mahal built by Emperor Shah Jahan in 1648 AD in memory of his Queen. It took the world's best craftsmen and over 20,000 workers almost 20 years to build this dream. We will also visit the Agra Fort and sample the arts of the region.
Day 15
AGRA - ORCHHA - KHAJURAHO (BLD)
A short train ride to Jhansi and then drive to Khajuraho visiting en route palaces and temples of Orchha. Khajuraho temples are known for their intricate and erotic carvings on their walls.
Day 16
KHAJURAHO - VARANASI (BD)
Visit the magnificent Khajuraho temples. Fly to one of the oldest and most fascinating cities in India, Varanasi with its array of shrines and temples, rising in several tiers from the water's edge. Later visit Sarnath, the site where Lord Buddha preached his first sermon.
Day 17
VARANASI - DELHI - HOMEBOUND (B)
Early morning boat ride on the Ganges to see the Hindu rituals. Later fly to Delhi and connect homebound flights.
Day 18
ARRIVE
West Coast or East Coast.
