Day 01 - Tuesday - Arrive Quito- the Capital of Ecuador
The beautiful city of Quito is home of some of the most impressive and beautiful constructions of the colonial period. Declared a world heritage site, Quito will charm you with its history, traditions, and legends. Transfer to your hotel.
Quito Touring and Middle of the World
Later start exploring the main square, known as “Independence Square.” This is where the most important powers of the government were seated during colonial times, including the archbishop's palace, the presidential palace and the Cathedral. As you explore, you will find that each one has a story to tell. We will continue our tour at The church of La Compania, built by the Jesuits, complete with carved gold-leaf altars, impressive paintings from the most famous painters of La Escuela Quiteña like Caspicara, and other impressive works of art that will dazzle you. La Compania, in all its gilded glory, is a masterpiece of colonial art. Next, we will visit San Francisco Square, where the legend of Cantuña comes alive in the atrium of the church. We will finish this part of our tour with a panoramic view from the small hill of El Panecillo, from which point the “Winged Virgin” keeps watch over the city. Later we will visit the Middle of the World, the very same point designated by the French Geodesic mission of the 19th century as the place where the earth was divided into two hemispheres. We will then visit the Intinan Museum, where a collection of Ecuadorian history and culture offers an engaging way for visitors to experience this interesting geographic part of the world.
Day 02 - Wednesday - Quito - Coca- La Selva Lodge & Spa
This morning we will fly to the city of Coca. Personnel of La Selva Lodge & Spa. They will take you to the dock in Coca, where you will board a canoe that will take you two hours down the Napo River to the Lodge. This is where your Amazon adventure will start. From days 11 to 13, you will discover the magic and beauty of the Amazonian nature at La Selva Lodge & Spa. Enjoy tranquil canoe rides accompanied by expert naturalist guides and a native guide that will spot and point out the most wonderful creatures for you. During your stay at La Selva Lodge, you will be able to visit a 36-meter tall viewing tower, atop which you will be able to discover a whole new world that dwells in the canopy of the rain forest. Your guides will take you on beautiful and tranquil walks deep in the Amazon rain forest, where your guides will explain the healing powers of the plants and will share with you the ancient wisdom of the local tribes that have made this jungle their home. You will also have a chance to share a moment with the local indigenous communities and learn about their ancient traditions and local foods. All of this will be done while you enjoy the comfort and service of the most luxurious lodge in the Ecuadorian Amazon jungle.
Day 03 - Thursday - La Selva Lodge & Spa- Upper Amazon experience
The Amazon Basin, and the Ecuadorian Amazon in particular, is home to truly astounding biodiversity: the Yasuní Biosphere Reserve is believed by many to be home to the most diverse set of species on the Earth. In the Ecuadorian Amazon, you will find: 800 species of fish, including three sorts of piranhas 350 Species of reptiles, including anacondas and iguanas More than 300 species of mammals, including monkeys and jaguars Thousands of species of plants and trees Thousands of species of insects: one acre of rainforest may be home to 70,000 species of insect!
Day 04 - FRIDAY - La Selva Lodge & Spa- Coca - Quito- OTAVALO- HACIENDA ZULETA
Morning transfer to Coca airport for a short flight to Quito. On arrival we are driven two hours to Otavalo in the countryside to spend a night at the amazing HACIENDA ZULETA
Day 05 - SATURDAY - La Selva Lodge - OTAVALO- HACIENDA ZULETA
On Saturdays, the craft market begins early, with stallholders setting up at around 6 am. A large animal market is held at the same time on the outskirts of the city, trading cattle, sheep, pigs, llamas, chickens, rabbits and masses of guinea pigs, turning the town into a sprawling marketplace. In the quiet of morning, before busloads of visitors begin arriving from Quito, take the chance to wander and chat with the stallholders in relative calm. Alongside the textiles, there are stalls filled with myriad other crafts, from silver jewelry to wooden carvings to Panama hats, which originated in Ecuador but became famous in Panama. The selection of crafts is extensive, and good gifts or souvenirs include woolen scarves, blankets and ponchos.
Day 06 - SUNDAY - HACIENDA ZULETA - QUITO- GALAPAGOS
Early morning tour of Rose Feilds...Ecuador produces some of the best roses in the world - bright colors, unforgettable scents and unmatchable beauty characterizes Ecuadorian roses. On the second day of your tour around Ecuador, we will visit one of these rose plantations and learn more about the harvesting process. Then transfer to the quito airport for flight to Galapagos
Upon arrival transfer to the RED MANGROVE HOTEL. Situated on the oceanfront in Puerto Ayora, the Red Mangrove blends in naturally with a surrounding mangrove forest while offering the most pleasant views of Academy Bay available on Santa Cruz. The hotel’s very own private deck and restaurant area have incredible panoramic scenes of the Galapagos Islands.
